BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Anglican Men's Association (AMA) originated from a proposal of the Diocesan Bishop of Barbados The Rt Rev Drexel Gomez, now Lord Archbishop of the West Indies.
It was oficially launched on 24th August 1976, the Feast of St. Bartholomew, with thirteen affiliated Fellowships.
Its main purpose being to provide a ministry to men eighteen years and over, mainly practising communicants.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVE
To build up together our life in Christ and to promote fellowship among Christian men through worship, prayer and service:
To promote good family life and create among men an awareness to be responsible citizens
To encourage men to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church
To assist the poor and needy, and to visit the shut-ins
To help in the maintenance of the Church
To promote the welfare of the community by assisting in cultural work inside and outside of the Church
To support joint activities sponsored by the Church at Parochial, Deanery and Diocesan levels, as well as providing a means for circulating information among males in the Church
MEMBERSHIP
Membership of the Asociation is open to all Men's Fellowships or other Men's groups in the Diocese who accept the Aims and Objectives of the Association.
