1972-1993

The successor to Lewis Evans was Drezel Gomez who, after the Synod failed to agree on the election of a Bishop, was chosen by a committee of the House of Bishops of the Province.  He appointed the Reverend Harold Crichlow Dean of the Cathedral, and the Reverend Anthony Cayless as a full-time Archdeacon.

He made All Souls’, St Cyprian’s and St Lawrence into separate parishes, separating the first two from the Cathedral, and the third from St Matthias.  He also separated Holy Cross from being under the care of the Principal of Codrington College, and appointed Priests-in-Charge for Holy Cross and in 1982 it became a full parish thus being required to pay its full assessment.
