History
St. Marks Church is built on lands provided by the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel and was erected mainly with funds provided by the Society. It is locally known as the Chapel on the Hill standing as it does on a high cup outcrop of rock.
The first Church was built in 1829, and was destroyed by the hurricane of 1831. It was rebuilt and consecrated on January 11, 1833.
