MOTHERS' UNION
MOTHERS' UNION ACTIVITIES
Special observances are held on “Lady Day, celebrated on March 25, Feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Mothering Sunday.
In pursuit of its aim and objectives, the Barbados Mothers Union takes part in community projects involving mothers and children. For example, it was involved in the building of a reception Centre at the Nightingale Complex (1979) and the provision of a van to transport physically challenged children (1984).
The Mothers’ Union continues to give support to institutions such as the Nightingale Home, the Home for Needy Children, the Home for Battered Women and C.A.R.E, which helps children affected by HIV/IDS. Recently, it has been able to offer support to the re-established St. Mary’s Home for the Elderly.
