MOTHERS' UNION

Purpose, Aim and Objectives

The purpose of the Mothers’ Union is to be specially concerned with all that strengthens and preserves marriage and Christian family Life.

The aim of the Society is the advancement of the Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life.  The following Objectives that were set up in order to carry out this Aim are:

vTo uphold Christ’s teaching on the nature of marriage and promote its wider understanding

vTo encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church.

vTo maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service.

vTo promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the aprotection of children.

vTo help those who family life has met with adversity.

Today the Barbados Mothers’ Union numbers over 3,000 distributed among some forty eight (48) branches.  Its principal aim is the advancement of the Christian religion in the sphere of marriage and family life. Other objectives are:

(a)     To uphold the Church’s teaching on marriage and promote its wider understanding,

(b)     To  promote conditions in society favourable to stable family life and the protection of children,

(c)     To help those whose family life has met with disaster,

(d)     To encourage parents to bring up their children in the faith and life of the Church,

(e)     To maintain a worldwide fellowship of Christians united in prayer, worship and service.
