BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Woman's Auxiliary (WA) was formed on November 30th, 1917 with an Enrolment Service. It is a Church and Missionary Society whose objects are WORK, WORSHIP and WITNESS. Its Patron Saint is St. Andrew.
One of the earliest missionary activities of the WA was to start a House of Refuge for girls under the direction of the Sisters of the Community of St John the Baptist at Collymore Rock. It was known as St. Monica's.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVE
MEMBERSHIP
At present there ae 6 (six) groups affiliated to the Diocesan Council. The largest group, with members from various parishes in the Diocese, meets at the St Michael's Cathedral on the second Thursday of each month. Branches are functioning at St John's Parish Church, St Jude's, St Aidan's, Holy Trinity, St Anne's and Holy Innocents.
Each year the branches meet for an all-day picnic preceded by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. On the Sunday nearest to St Andrew's day, a corporate Anniversary Service is held at St Michael's Cathedral.
