The church of St. David was built on 1 1/2 acres of land given by the Hon. Joshua B. Nurse and consecrated by The Lord Bishop, William Hart Coleridge on April 9th, 1840. It is also recorded that an additional half acre of land was given by Messrs. Thos. Daniel & Cox for burial ground.
