Patron Saint - Philip the Apostle
Our Patron Saint, Saint Philip was chosen by Jesus to be one of the Twelve Apostles. He was from Bethsaida of Galilee and having heeded Jesus’ command, “Follow me”, Philip extended an invitation to Nathanael to go with him and see Jesus. His noted appearances recorded within the New Testament:
- At the miraculous feeding of the 5000 people with five barley loaves and two fish.
- When some Greeks requesting an audience with Jesus, sought out Philip who in turn notified Andrew of the request.
- While reassuring the disciples and explaining to them that He is the way to the Father, Philip asks Jesus to show them the Father.
The feast day of St. Philip is celebrated on May 1. |
