The President of Men's Fellowship
The Anglican Men’s Association was launched on St. Bartholomew’s Day, 24th August 1976. It was the vision of the then Bishop, Drexel Gomez, to set up a body to provide a special ministry for men in the church.
The St. Thomas Parish Church Men’s Fellowship was founded on the 17th July 1977. The governing body of the Fellowship consists of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, and three floor members. The Rector of St. Thomas Parish Church shall be patron of the Men’s Fellowship and Ex officio member.
The Fellowship meets every Tuesday at 7:30 pm. On the third Tuesday, the monthly business meeting of the Fellowship is conducted. Bible Study is conducted on the other Tuesday evenings. The Fellowship has a current membership of thirty three.
Membership of the Men’s Fellowship is opened to all males, age eighteen and over and who are baptised or are regular worshippers at St. Thomas Parish Church.
The Aims and Objectives of the Fellowship are as follows:
(a) To provide a method of organising activities for the men in the parish and to promote, encourage and develop in its members a greater interest in Christian, cultural and social activities;
(b) To promote good family life and create among men an awareness to be responsible citizens;
(c) To encourage men to bring up theirs and other children in the faith and life of the church;
(d) To assist the poor and needy members of the Church and to visit the sick and shut-ins;
(e) To assist with the maintenance of the Church;
(f) To promote the welfare of the community in voluntary social work inside and outside the parish;
(g) To establish fellowship with similar men’s groups in the Anglican Church and with other Christian Denominations at home and abroad;
(h) To promote joint activities sponsored by the church at parochial, deanery and diocesan level, as well as providing the means for circulating information among males in the church.
Men's Fellowship Prayer
Almighty God, Father of every family, who through your son Jesus Christ, has poured out your best gift of love to be the bond of perfectness among men, and the means of bringing men together; bless, we beseech you, all Men's Fellowship Organisations throughout the world, and especially in this Diocese; let love and happiness ever be found among us and may our faith in you grow stronger each day we live; through the same Christ our Lord. AMEN
The hymn 679, Ancient and Modern is the Men’s Fellowship theme hymn.
